Went to the beach today for the first time in a while. Kailua Beach is one of my favorites on O’ahu because the sand isnt as coarse as the other areas and the ocean floor isnt jaded with rocks.
My parents called and said they would be making a trip out soon. I’ll believe it when I see it.
After quite a bit of prodding by friends, I’ve finally started to play golf on a regular basis. I’ve been taking lessons up at Leilehua Golf Club near Schofield and the pro there has been helping me to un-learn some bad habits. It’s been hard work but it’s already proving to be rewarding. I really wish I would have started doing this two years ago when Ray was still on the island.
This morning some of my friends and I headed down to Waikiki to participate in the annual Toys for Tots Motorcycle cruise. The weather wasn’t on our side, but it was pretty cool to see everyone come from all over the island to meet up at Ala Moana Beach Park and make the 3 mile journey to Kapiolani Community College with their gifts. I added a few photos up that I got from Roth, but since it was so wet outside I didn’t take any pictures. Hopefully more will surface from some of my other friend’s soon.
Yesterday morning Jesse, his sister, father, and I headed to the North Shore at 6am to swim with the sharks. We tied off to a buoy 3 miles from shore and chummed the water with fish and blood, waiting for the sharks to arrive. The water was crystal clear and after only a few minutes, shadowy figures seemed to make their way up from the depths of the ocean.
We were very fortunate, as we saw five sandbar sharks, a manta ray, and two pilot whales. It was a great time and wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought it might be. Jesse’s dad had an underwater camera so hopefully I’ll post a video soon!
My friends, Jesse & Jenny, gave birth to a healthy 7lb baby girl last night at Kaiser Permanente. Natalie Johnson was born a little after 7pm yesterday evening and we were all their to celebrate. Congratulations guys!!!
