Christian’s Wheelie

Me and some of my friends (Christian & Jesse) have been wanting to start taking video clips while riding our bikes around the island and have been looking for a cheap, easy solution to mount them in place. After visiting Lowes the other day, I think I might just spring for purchasing a ready-made apparatus online instead of trying to construct my own. The idea was to build two separate mounts, one for the tank, and one to attach to the frame-slider.

I’ve been using my Canon SD900 in video mode and have let my passenger do most of the videography but it tends to be shaky and not good enough quality to really do anything with. Since I’m the least experienced rider in the group, I figured I’d mount the gear to my bike most of the time since they’re mainly the ones doing fancy tricks.

The solution that I like best is a tank mount that is height-adjustable as well as pivot-adjustable. Unfortunately though, all of the ones I have found that fit the bill are held on by suction cups — which in my estimation is an INCREDIBLY BAD IDEA. I think what we’re going to end up going with is purchasing a suction-cup mount apparatus and somehow retrofitting a bolt-on assembly to the fuel cap. …not too sure but hopefully I’ll get something that works and we can start taking some sweet vids soon.
